A dedicated WireGuard® server is your own private VPN server with its own IP address. This guide covers ordering one, how long set-up takes, where to find it in the client portal and what to do first.
What you get
- Your own server and a dedicated IP address in the location you choose
- Up to 253 WireGuard users, one per device, each with its own keys, internal IP and config file
- Unlimited port forwarding, TCP, UDP or both
- Live status for each device: online or offline, plus data sent and received
- Peer-to-peer control: let your devices reach each other, or keep every device isolated
- A Custom Config Builder for your own DNS servers or a hostname endpoint
- A REST API for users, port forwards, per-user bandwidth limits and DNS-over-TLS
Everything is managed from the client portal. You don't need SSH or the command line.
Ordering a server
A dedicated WireGuard server is a standalone service, so you don't need a PremierVPN plan to order one.
- Go to premiervpn.net/dedicated-wireguard-vpn for current prices and click Get your server.
- Choose a location at checkout. Each location shows how long it takes to set up.
- Complete payment.
If you want servers in more than one location, order one server per location.
How long set-up takes
Your server is ready within 24 hours, and most locations are ready in minutes.
- Automatic locations are built as soon as your payment is confirmed and are usually ready in about ten minutes.
- Other locations are set up by our team. We email you to say we're building it, and it's ready within 24 hours, usually sooner.
Either way, we email you when the server is ready and it appears in your portal. Set-up starts once payment is confirmed, so a UK Direct Debit order starts after the payment clears (3 to 5 working days).
Finding your server in the portal
- Sign in at portal.premiervpn.net.
- In the sidebar, under Main, click WireGuard. This link appears once a server is assigned to your account.
- The Dedicated WireGuard Servers page lists each server with its location, IP address and status.
- Click Manage Server on the server you want to set up.
If you can't see the WireGuard link, go straight to /wireguard.
What's on the server page
- Create WireGuard User: add a user for each device.
- Your users, each with a .conf download button, Keys, Ports and Remove.
- Server Info: IP Address, WireGuard Port, Subnet, Location and Specs.
- Peer-to-Peer Blocking: whether your devices can reach each other.
- REST API: the API Keys & Documentation button, for automating your server.
The status next to the server name shows Active, Maintenance or Offline.
Connect your first device
- In Create WireGuard User, enter a name for the device, such as
laptop, and click Create User. - Click the .conf button next to the new user to download its config file.
- Import the file into the official WireGuard app on that device and activate the tunnel.
Full steps for every platform are in Creating and Managing WireGuard Users. To host a game or service, see Setting Up Port Forwarding.
FAQs
Can I have more than one server?
Yes. Order one server per location. Each one appears on your Dedicated WireGuard Servers page.
Can I move my server to another location?
Not from the portal. Open a support ticket and tell us where you'd like it.
My server shows Maintenance or Offline. What does that mean?
Your server isn't fully available at the moment. If it doesn't return to Active soon, open a support ticket and we'll look into it.
What happens if my subscription ends?
The server is removed from your account. Its IP address, config files and port forwards stop working.
Still stuck? Open a support ticket and tell us your device, app version and what you've tried.
