This guide shows how to organise your Encrypted Vault with folders and stars, and what happens when you delete files and folders.
Create a folder
- Open Vault and go to the place you want the new folder (the top level, or inside another folder).
- Click New Folder.
- Type a name and click Create.
Folders can go inside other folders. Click a folder to open it. The path at the top of the page (for example Vault / Work / Contracts) shows where you are; click any part of it to go back up.
Files you upload go into the folder you have open. Folder names aren't encrypted, so keep them general.
At the moment you can't rename folders or move files between folders, so it's worth opening the right folder before you upload.
Star important files
Click the star next to any file to mark it. Click it again to remove the star.
To see all your starred files in one list, click the star icon at the top of the vault (Starred). The list shows each file's name, size and when it was added. To download a starred file, open the folder it's in.
Delete a file
- Hover over the file and click the delete (bin) icon.
- Confirm when asked.
The file is deleted from storage straight away, along with any share links to it. It can't be recovered.
Delete a folder
- Hover over the folder and click the delete icon that appears.
- Confirm when asked.
Files directly inside the folder are permanently deleted, along with their share links. Any folders inside it are removed too, but files that were inside those subfolders aren't deleted: they move to the top level of your vault.
Deletion is permanent. There's no recycle bin in the vault, so check before you confirm.
