Your portal password signs you in to the client portal and to every PremierVPN app. This article covers changing it, setting one for the first time if you signed up with Google or Apple, and resetting it if you've forgotten it.
This is not your VPN password. The VPN password is only for third-party and manual set-ups (IKEv2, OpenVPN, AnyConnect, routers). See How to Change Your VPN Password.
Change your password
- Sign in to the client portal.
- In the sidebar, under Account, click Settings.
- In the Portal Password section, enter your Current password.
- Enter your New password and type it again in Confirm new password.
- Click Change Portal Password.
Your new password must be at least 8 characters and include upper and lower case letters, a number and a symbol. Use the new password next time you sign in to the portal or any of the apps.
You signed up with Google or Apple
If you created your account with Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, it doesn't have a password yet. The website works without one, but the PremierVPN apps need an email and password, so set one:
- Sign in to the portal with Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
- Go to Settings. The Portal Password section says you don't have a portal password yet, and there's no current password box.
- Enter a new password twice and click Set Portal Password.
Now sign in to the apps with your account email and this password. You can keep using Google or Apple on the website too: signing in with them never changes or resets your password.
Don't know your current password?
If you have Google or Apple sign-in on your account (for example, you added it later, or you set a password and forgot it), you can change your password without the old one:
- Sign out, then sign in again with Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
- Within 30 minutes, go to Settings. The Portal Password section says you can set a new password without entering your current one.
- Enter the new password twice and click Change Portal Password.
After 30 minutes, or once you've saved a new password, the current password is required again. This keeps your account safe if someone else gets to a computer you left signed in.
Forgotten your password
- If you're signed in, sign out first. The reset pages only work when you're signed out.
- On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?
- Enter your account email and click Send reset link.
- Open the email from us and click the link. Check your spam folder if it hasn't arrived after a few minutes.
- Enter your email and a new password (at least 8 characters, with upper and lower case letters and a number), then click Reset password.
This works for every account, including ones created with Google or Apple.
Tips
- Use a password you don't use anywhere else. A password manager makes this easy.
- Turn on two-factor authentication so a stolen password isn't enough to get in.
- After 5 failed attempts to change your password, you'll need to wait a few minutes before trying again.
