This article covers the most common SlipNet problems and how to fix them, from activating a server in the portal to slow or dropping connections on your phone.
Can't activate a server in the portal
- "SlipNet is available to VPN subscribers only": you need an active PremierVPN VPN plan.
- "SlipNet is paused while your subscription is suspended": pay the outstanding invoice under Billing › Invoices. Your servers come back automatically.
- "This server is not available": the server is offline for now. Activate a different one.
Connection times out
Most likely cause: the DNS resolvers SlipNet is using are blocked on your network.
- In SlipNet, go to Settings › DNS Resolver Scanner and run a scan (Scan IR DNS Lite in Iran).
- Use only resolvers marked E2E Passed.
- Update your resolver settings with the new ones. See How to Set Your DNS Resolvers in SlipNet.
- Connect again. If it still times out, try a different protocol.
Connected but no internet
- Check your resolvers: in Iran, use only E2E Passed resolvers.
- Try the ssh version: if you're on a socks link, import the ssh link for the same protocol and try that.
- Check VayDNS settings: from Iran, set Resolvers Mode to Reliable, Query Length to 131 bytes and Client ID Size to 2.
- Try another protocol: for example switch from VayDNS to NoizDNS, or to NaiveProxy if HTTPS isn't blocked.
- Restart the app: force-close SlipNet, reopen it and connect again.
Connection keeps dropping
- Unstable network: DNS tunnels are sensitive to signal quality. Move closer to your router or try mobile data.
- Resolvers going offline: scan again and update your resolvers.
- Try Slipstream: it copes better with packet loss and network changes than the other DNS tunnels.
Slow speeds
DNS tunnels are always slower than a normal VPN. That's the trade-off for getting through heavy filtering. To speed things up:
- Try Slipstream, the fastest DNS tunnel.
- Try NaiveProxy, which runs over HTTPS and is much faster when it isn't blocked.
- Activate a different server on the SlipNet page. One may perform better from your location.
- Check whether a faster option works on your network now. The PremierVPN app and our VLESS links are much quicker. See What is SlipNet?
"Your connection URIs need updating"
If the portal shows this message, click Refresh Now, then copy the new links and import them into SlipNet again. Delete the old profiles from the app.
"Connection URI invalid" or import fails
- Copy the whole link, including the
slipnet://at the start. Use the Copy button rather than selecting the text by hand. - Check that no spaces or line breaks were added when pasting.
- Click Refresh URIs on the SlipNet page to generate fresh links, then import again.
- Make sure you have the latest version of the SlipNet app.
The app won't install
- When Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
- If the download is blocked, try another network, or ask someone outside the country to download the APK from the official SlipNet releases page and send it to you.
Still not working?
Open a support ticket and include:
- The protocol and link type you tried, for example VayDNS socks
- Which server you activated
- Your ISP or mobile operator, and whether you're on Wi-Fi or mobile data
- Your SlipNet app version
- The exact error message or what happens
